I need urgent mental health assistance. What should I do?

Anyone in Massachusetts who’s experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder crisis can call the Emergency Services Program/Mobile Crisis Intervention (ESP/MCI) toll-free at: 1-877-382-1609 (available 24/7/365).

If you think you may be suicidal, you can call or text the Samaritans Helpline: 1-877-870-HOPE (4673) (available 24/7/365). You can also call or text the national suicide hotline 988 (also available 24/7/365).

I'm feeling unsafe [where I live]. Where should I go/what should I do?

If you feel that you are in imminent danger, call 911. If you don’t feel that you are immediate danger, you can:

Who qualifies for your services?

We provide community group counseling mental health services to local adolescents and adults of all ages and genders. While we try to serve as many clients as possible, there can be a waitlist, or we may need to refer you to more specialized services.

What communities do you serve?

Thanks to telehealth, we’re now able to serve clients throughout Massachusetts. All of our in-person groups are in Somerville.

How do I make an appointment?

First, you need to complete an intake. To get started, you can:

  • Fill out our intake form online.
  • Call 1-781-600-6074 and complete a phone intake.
  • Email our program director Julie Catalano infonccsinc@gmail.com to schedule a phone intake. It can take 3-5 business days for a response.

Is there a waitlist to get into a group?

Our next round of groups will start Fall 2023; there is currently no waitlist.

Do you offer virtual groups?

Most groups will be held in person, but some may be offered over telehealth.

How long is a group session?

In general, a group counseling session will be 60 minutes but some may be as long as 90 minutes.

How often do the groups meet?

Most groups will run one time weekly, but some may vary.

Do you take insurance?

No, we do not take insurance at this time. Our group services are funded mainly by foundations and donations.

Do I need a referral?

Referral is not needed in most cases since we do not go through insurance. However, we may accept referrals from therapists, case managers, probation officers and other community providers.

How many weeks or months should I expect to be in group?

Most groups run 8-12 weeks.

Do I need permission to join a group if I’m under age?

Yes, if you’re under the age of 18, you’ll need a parent or guardian’s signature to receive counseling services.
